It looks like the Winnipeg Jets are ready to turn the page on Alex Burmistrov.

Although he survived the trimming of the roster last week after the holiday freeze came to an end, Burmistrov was placed on waivers by the Jets on Sunday.

Burmistrov, who was chosen eighth overall in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers, has only two assists in 23 games this season and has been a healthy scratch for the past 10 games.

If Burmistrov http://www.jetshockeygear.com/dustin-byfuglien-jersey-c-21.html, 25, clears waivers, he could be assigned to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.

The Jets 17 19 3 are coming off a 6 2 loss to the New York Islanders and open a three game road trip on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Burmistrov s tenure with the Jets has featured plenty of ups and downs.

He got off to a great start in 2011, anchoring the second line but his play and production dropped off considerably and he eventually found himself on the fourth line Toby Enstrom Jersey, finishing the campaign with a career high 13 goals and 28 points in 76 games.

Mostly because of concerns about usage with the Jets, Burmistrov decided to leave the NHL and sign a two year deal in the Kontinental Hockey League with Ak Bars Kazan as a restricted free agent in the summer of 2012.

After spending that time with his hometown team, the Jets brought Burmistrov back on a two year deal that carried an average annual value of 1.55 million per season.

It was a low risk move and since Jets head coach Paul Maurice spent a season coaching in the KHL, the belief was that a new voice might be able to connect with Burmistrov and bring out his best.

But it s safe to say the move hasn t worked out as planned.

Last season http://www.jetshockeygear.com/ben-chiarot-jersey-c-22.html, Burmistrov was used mostly in a checking role but managed to produce seven goals and 21 points in 81 games.

Burmistrov has been an effective penalty killer and has offensive ability http://www.jetshockeygear.com/tyler-myers-jersey-c-28.html, though he hasn t been able to translate that into points on a consistent basis.

It will be interesting to see if another NHL team takes a chance on him since it won t cost them an asset to claim Burmistrov off waivers.
